Train Spotting

Some of the best train spotting in Canada is available to train buffs when visiting Field. Located right beside the CPR’s main line and less than 10 km from the world famous CPR Spiral Tunnels, Field is a mecca for train enthusiasts. From every window at the Lodge, train lovers can watch all the engines and cargo cars go by. On special occasions one can spot the historic Canadian Pacific Empress steam engine or catch a glimpse of the luxurious Royal Canadian Pacific passenger train. The townsite is also home to a historic train station and a historic CP Rail Telegraph building (both not open to the public). Please be careful when near the tracks: the train yard and the station area are restricted to the public and visitors should not cross the tracks at non designated areas. Come and set up your tripod and spot the trains or just sit with your children in the town square and watch . Everybody loves a train!
